The Godfather meets Daniel Woodrell in this Southern debut, a multigenerational saga of crime, family, and vengeance. Clayton Burroughs comes from a long line of outlaws. For generations the Burroughs clan has made their home on Bull Mountain in North Georgia, running shine, pot, and meth over six state lines, virtually untouched by the rule of law. To distance himself from his family's criminal empire, Clayton takes the job of sheriff in a neighboring community to keep what peace he can. But when a federal agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms shows up at Clayton's office with a plan to shut down the mountain, his hidden agenda will pit brother against brother and test loyalties and could lead Clayton down a path to self-destruction.

I gave the world two middle fingers when I moved to the mountainsYeah, I’ve got skeletons in my closet, but who doesn’t?I built a log cabin that has everything I needWinter is coming alright, but I’m readyThen I hear there’s a woman lost in the snowstormWas it the same gorgeous blonde I saw earlier that day?If she’s lost in Devil’s Pass, nobody can save her but meShane: I was well stocked for the snowstorm, ready to drink my way through it like I’ve done with so many before. I sure didn’t expect it to find a gorgeous virgin nearly frozen to death in her car. I guess I’m going to have to find a way to warm her up.Heather: My friends are really bad with directions and apparently my GPS doesn’t work in the mountains. I made one wrong turn and ended up trapped in a massive snowstorm. Just when I thought it was all over, Shane found me. He’s a ridiculously hot bearded man who lives in a log cabin he built himself! I don’t think I’m going to be a virgin when this storm is over.Kelli's Note: This is a steamy standalone novella with a HEA and no cheating! I'm a girl that likes wild and crazy romances, so that is exactly what you get from me. My heroes might be a little over-the-top with a touch of caveman and you'll get some angst along the way, but I promise that the good parts will give you a plenty of reasons to read this all by yourself!

  • Mountain born,

    Elizabeth Yates

    Hardcover (Coward-McCann, inc, Jan. 1, 1943)
Mountain Born is about a very young boy and the lamb his mother saves from death. Peter, the boy, adopts the lamb and raises it by bottle from the day of its birth. The two become inseparable. They share many adventures with an older wise workhand named Benj. The book covers a span of seven years as Peter and his goat, Biddy grow up together. The story is interesting and describes life on a mountain sheep farm during the early 20th century. Peter's family live off the land, growing everything they need. Their clothing even comes from the wool of their sheep. Life is simple, requires hard work, and creates a strong bond between the humans and their animals. This is an endearing story of the cycle of life and a boy's growth into young manhood.

    Brian Panowich

    Hardcover (G.P. Putnam's Sons, July 7, 2015)
“[Panowich] pulls off [a] daunting undertaking with astounding success . . . The storytelling is mesmerizing, with virtually every chapter set in a different timeline and focused on a single character, but the sense of immediacy carries over into each era. And while the violence is shocking in its coldhearted brutality, it’s as aesthetically choreographed as any ballet.”—Marilyn Stasio, The New York Times Book Review“Brian Panowich stamps words on the page as if they’ve been blasted from the barrel of a shotgun, and as with a shotgun blast, no one is safe from the scattered fragments of history that impale the people of Bull Mountain.”—Wiley Cash, New York Times-bestselling author of This Dark Road to Mercy From a remarkable new voice in Southern fiction, a multigenerational saga of crime, family, and vengeance. His best friend is Benj, a wise old shepherd, and Benj teaches him to care for the sprightly lamb that becomes his own special pet, his cosset.
